The Duggar family has just grown by one: there is now a new son-in-law in the family!
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard said their vows on Saturday in front of 1,000 friends and family in Jill’s hometown of Springdale, Arkansas. This is the second of Jim Bob and Michelle’s children to marry. However with oldest daughter Jessa having been in a courtship since last September, I’m sure another wedding isn’t that far off.
Jim Bob met new son-in-law Derick while they were both doing humanitarian work in Nepal. The first conversation between Jill and Derick was via Skype, where they got to know each other. Jill traveled with her father to Nepal to officially meet Derick in person, and that is when Derick asked Jill to enter into a courtship with him. After Derick came home from Nepal, he proposed to Jill in April, and the rest is history.
Jim Bob and Michelle have certain rules when it comes to their children dating, or “courting”. All interactions must be chaperoned, and the only physical contact can be a “side-hug” when saying hello or goodbye. That means their first kiss as a married couple was their first kiss ever.
Season 8 of TLC’s “19 Kids and Counting” just wrapped up on June 3rd. It has been renewed for a ninth season, so I’m sure we’ll be able to see all of the amazing wedding preparations, and the wedding itself soon.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
