The 2014 Winter Olympics will be available streaming live through iOS and Android apps from NBC.
Two different apps are available.
There’s a free app available to any fans who want to stay tuned into the 2014 Winter Olympics games.
It’s called NBC Olympics Highlights and Results.
This app provides real-time Olympics news, schedules, results, medal counts, photos, and video highlights to Android, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users in the U.S. and certain U.S. territories.
A 3G, 4G, LTE, or WiFi data connection is required to stream video.
This is a good app for those who don’t subscribe to a TV cable or satellite service, as well as those who are too busy to watch the Winter Olympics games on TV. However, it comes with a few drawbacks.
The app does not offer any live video coverage. You can still get video highlights, still images, real-time scores, and pretty much everything else.
It’s also loaded with advertisements, but this is to be expected with any free app.
There are versions for the iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch and for Android devices.
If you want to watch live streaming of the events, NBC has another app called the NBC Sports Live Extra.
It’s free also – but you’ll need a cable or satellite subscription to use it.
The Sports Live Extra app will include at least 1,000 hours of Winter Olympics coverage featuring all 15 sports and all 98 medal events.
The Sports Live Extra app is also available in both iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch and Android flavors.
