2015 Subaru Legacy Wins Two Best Car Awards

The 2015 Subaru Legacy has won two honorary titles.

In Canada, the AJAC (automotive journalists association of Canada), voted it the Best New Family Car under $30,000.

The Legacy beat such competition as the Toyota Camry and the Chrysler 200.

In the United States, The Car Connection, chose it as the 2015 Best Car To Buy.

The judges were impressed by the mid-size sedans design, fuel economy, and safety features..

The IIHS has given the Subaru Legacy a Top Safety Pick, and Top Safety Pick Plus for models with the new Eyesight preventative safety technology.

The Subaru Legacy has been completely redesigned for 2015.

The new version features the largest in class interior that has been massaged and refined with more soft touch quality materials, improved fuel economy, the only standard AWD in the mid-size market and a more appealing exterior.

The Legacy is powered by a 2.5L flat 4, that produces 175 hp. and 174 lb-ft, not to mention a nice low thrum indicative of a boxer engine.

The 2.5L is rated at 26 mpg city, 36 mpg highway (9.0 & 6.5 L/100km).

Alternatively you can have one with a 3.6L flat 6 pumping out 256 hp. and 247 lb-ft.

Estimates for the 3.6 are 20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway (11.8 & 8.1 L/100km).

There a three choices in transmission depending on the model chosen.

The basic versions receive a 6 speed manual with the option of a Lineartronic CVT.

The top of the range 3.6R models use only a High Torque CVT.

As with all Subaru vehicles, the 2015 Legacy is endowed with the rally proven symmetrical all wheel drive system, and race proven dependability.

This technology is enhanced by the Active Torque Vectoring and Vehicle Dynamic Controls, tested in the WRX and STI.

These systems converge to provide better handling, and more neutral cornering by applying brake pressure to the inside front wheel.

Pricing for the base Subaru Legacy 2.5i is $21,695 U.S. and $23,495 CA.

The top of the line 3.6R Limited starts at $29,595 U.S. and $35,395 CA.

Having been blessed with a litany of the latest safety and AWD tech, the 2015 Subaru Legacy is a strong contender in the competitive mid-size market.

If you have never driven a Legacy, I would highly recommend it the next time your car shopping.

And its not just me, the judges have spoken and they agree.
