2016 Nissan Sentra – Strong Family Resemblance

Continuing its model range update, Nissan unveiled its heavily revised 2016 Sentra.

The 2016 Sentra follows the new Altima and Maxima as Nissan is in the process of refreshing its entire lineup. While the Sentra is not an all-new model, the changes are significant enough to fool most.

“In what is turning out to be ‘the year of the sedan,’ Nissan has made major changes to our three best-known sedans – launching an all-new Maxima 4-Door Sports Car, a major makeover of our number one selling Altima, and now a redesigned Sentra,” said Pierre Loing, vice president, Product Planning, Nissan North America, Inc.

Most noticeable is the Sentra’s new exterior. The Murano-inspired grille sets the tone and the front bumper, fenders and headlights have also been restyled. As a result, the hood had to be reworked to accommodate these changes.

While the updates to the interior are less dramatic, they are appreciated nonetheless. The 2016 Sentra gets a new steering wheel, new available power driver’s seat, a new centre cluster design, and shifter.

Under the hood, the Sentra doesn’t see any changes. The 1.8-litre 4-cylinder carries over and produces 130 hp and 128 lb-ft of torque. S and SV trim levels are available with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new Sentra does get a tuned suspension though. The springs and dampers are 10-percent stiffer and this makes the chassis a little more fun to drive.

The 2016 Nissan Sentra will go on sale soon.
