$50 Rebate On The New HP TouchPad Offered To Early Adopters

HP’s new 32GB TouchPad tablet is $50 closer, but only for consumers who adopted their first webOS phone. Current owners of a Palm Pre, Pre Plus, Pixi or Pixi Plus have until July 31 to take advantage of this offer. Without proof of ownership of a webOS phone, consumers will not be able to take advantage of this mail-in rebate. This offer will initially be run in the US and Canada and shipping is scheduled to begin on Friday.

On its blog, HP says “When the first webOS phone came out, a lot of you took a chance on our new platform. We appreciate your support — as customers, as champions, and even occasionally as our most thoughtful critics.”

Retailing at $599.99, the 32GB TouchPad includes a 1.2 mega pixel camera, a 9.7 inch screen and a 1.2 GHz processor. A 16GB TouchPad is also available at $499.99. Other TouchPads like the RIM’s BlackBerry PlayBook and the Motorola Xoom will pose stiff competition for HP’s new TouchPad.

Comments on the HP blog indicate that consumers outside the US and Canada would like the offer to be extended to them, and some indicate that they would like the offer extended to include the 16GB TouchPad as well.
