9/11 Memorial, Tribute In Light & TV Specials: Times, Live Stream & more

Sunday, September 11th, marks the 15th anniversary of the the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City.

To honor the lives of all who were lost on that tragic day there will be events and TV specials, as well as a memorial address where the names of all 2,996 victims.

Here is everything you need to know, including air times, free live streaming options & live events:

TV

9/11 Memorial Address Ceremony: All channels. The address starts at 8:46 A.M EST and will be broadcast on all the major networks (NBC, CBS, ABC, etc.),  as well as many cable channels, including CNN; 8:46 is when the first plane struck the tower.

Free live streaming is available through several outlets, including the 9/11 website, WatchABC, NBC’s website and others starting at 8:40 A.M. EST.

Please note, these sites are available on PC’s, tablets and smartphones; all sites are free but only the official 9/11 memorial site lest you access it without signing in using a participating cable provider.

9/11 Inside the Pentagon: PBSSunday at 7 P.M. EST. Documentary focusing on the attacks on the Pentagon; first aired September 6th of this year.

CNN Films Presents: 9/11: 15 Years LaterCNN, Sunday at 8 P.M. EST. 2-hour commemorative film surrounding the events of 9/11 and how it still affects us today; will be followed at 10 P.M. EST by We Got Him: Obama, Bin Laden, & the War On Terror.

National Geographic will broadcast specials  and interviews all day long, starting at 12 P.M. EST with Giuliani’s 9/11. Their featured special is a 2-hour comprehensive look at 9/11, called  9/11: The Longest War, which airs at 9 P.M. EST; It is followed by George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview.

The History Channel: They will have 2 documentaries running on 9/11: a 15th anniversary, special edition of  102 Minutes That Changed America and America’s 9/11 Flag: Rise From the Ashes; broadcast starts at 8 P.M. EST and the shows will run back to back.

 Live Events

FDNY Memorial Service at FDNY Museum: The NYC Fire Museum will hold a memorial honoring the 343 FDNY members lost on 9/11 starting at 1 P.M. EST at the museum. The museum is located at 278 Spring St., between Hudson and Varick streets.

Tribute in Light: The illuminated memorial radiates 4 miles into the sky and can be seen in a 60-mile radius, so you can view it in person or from your window.

In addition, the memorial plaza at Ground Zero will be open for viewing from 3 P.M. EST until midnight.
