According to CNET, a Walmart spokesperson this week announced that the popular retail chain will be offering the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S at 97¢ and $79, respectively, with a new two-year contract.

This type of price-cut is common leading up to alleged releases of new Apple products. The iPhone 6, the next-generation iPhone, may be announced in September, followed shortly by its public release.

The iPhone 6 is expected to come in two models, a 4.7 inch version, and a 5.5 inch version. The current iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S feature a 4 inch display. The iPhone 6 is also expected to be thinner and lighter than the current models, with a general aesthetic more like that of the current-generation iPod Touch.

The sales on the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S at Walmart applies to all color options available for each model. The sale prices, however, are only available on the 16GB versions of each phone.

The iPhones are scheduled to be put on sale at Walmart retail stores, as well as online at Walmart.com beginning Thursday, August 27th at 9 a.m. local times.
