A&E Brings Popular TV Shows To iPhone, iPod Touch

A&E is now offering free full length episodes for the iPhone and iPod Touch with their recently updated iOS app. Episodes from popular shows such as Storage Wars, The First 48, and more will be available.

In addition, A&E Networks has updated the History and Lifestyle channel apps. Both apps also provide free full length episodes for the iPhone and iPod Touch.

The apps also give users access to movies, as well as exclusive content such as deleted scenes and behind-the-scenes footage.

If you are a Comcast subscriber, you can view episodes from previous seasons of your favorite programs. Otherwise you’re limited to the current season – or most recent season if you’re in luck. A&E Networks has stated that additional cable and satellite providers will eventually have the same access, but it doesn’t give a timeframe.

The company has stated that the A&E, History, and Lifestyle apps will be available for Android devices in the first quarter of the year. The apps have been available for the iPad since December.

Apple’s Air Play is currently not supported for the apps, so you can’t stream the apps to Apple TV. iTunes has stated that support will be coming soon.

The A&E, History, and Lifestyle apps give you the ability to synch to your other iOS devices via iCloud. If you’re in the middle of a show on your iPod Touch, you can finish watching it on you iPad or iPhone.

Even though you are streaming episodes through an app, commercials are still included about every 10 minutes.

Will you be taking advantage of the free apps?

What is your favorite show on A&E, History, or Lifestyle?
