For people still looking for an affordable and effective weight loss program, Dr Mehmet Oz has launched a free health and fitness program “Move It and Lose It”. The program aired on Monday’s episode of “The Dr. Oz Show” (weekdays on Channel 11 at 1 and 5pm ) and is run online through his website.

Dr Oz has launched this program to help those who will not have otherwise been able to afford a personal trainer. Instead he’ll be bringing the personal trainer into viewers homes to help with weight loss.

To participate in the “Move It and Lose It” program, all Dr Oz asks is for participants to dedicate the first 11 weeks of 2011 to himself and his team of trainers.

Participants will have free access to interactive instructions from Nike trainers food logger to help participants track what they’re eating and a social forum.

Dr Oz says he hopes participants can lose two or three pounds in a week in the beginning of the program, but says it depends on their starting weight.

Before commencing participants fill in a survey acknowledging any conditions associated with weight, eg hypertension, high cholesterol or diabetes. Participants are then eased into a fitness routine tailored to their needs and he gradually increases the difficulty once participants endurance has been established.

On his show, every Monday for the 11 weeks, Oz will address challenges people have when trying to lose weight, including their emotions that could have caused the weight creeping on.
