Amazon Prime Streaming List Continues To Grow

Amazon is adding about 800 TV shows and movies from Disney–ABC to its Amazon Prime streaming service.. According to Amazon, this means that almost 13,000 TV shows and movies will be available to Amazon Prime members at no added cost.

Some of the new shows that Amazon is getting include Grey’s Anatomy, Lost, Phineas & Ferb, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, and Marvel’s X-Men Evolution.

Earlier this month, Amazon added a variety of shows from PBS, including the Antiques Roadshow, Frontline, Nova, and documentaries produced by Ken Burns. Amazon has been growing their streaming video library by leaps and bounds over the past year. FOX, CBS, NBC-Universal have all recently signed agreements providing their content to Amazon.

Much of the new streaming content from Disney-ABC will be available by the time Amazon ships its new Kindle Fire tablet on November 15.

Amazon Prime started out as basically an Amazon frequent buyer membership program. Amazon Prime members received free two day shipping on a wide variety of Amazon products with their membership. It has since expanded into a video streaming service along the lines of Netflix or Hulu.com, while continuing to offer the free two day shipping benefit.

Amazon Prime membership costs $79 a year.
