Amazon has launched a “Holiday Cheer” sweepstakes, giving students the chance to win an Amazon gift card valued at $500 (US).
How to Enter
Entering the contest is as easy as going to the official Amazon Holiday Sweepstakes home page, clicking the Twitter follow button (to follow the @AmazonStudent Twitter account), and then, clicking the enter button to complete the registration process.
Alternately, if you do not want to have the “side effect” of being bombarded by a wave of promotional material, you can also sign up at the alternate registration page, and enter the competition by using you email address instead; though you will still have to follow the “Amazon Student” Twitter account.
No purchase is required to enter the sweepstakes. However, if you happen to be one of those astonishingly lucky individuals who manage to come out victorious, you will still have to sign up for an account at Amazon.com in order to claim your prize.
Rules
In order to be an eligible for the sweepstakes contestants have to be 18 years or older and also be a legal resident of the US.
Strangely enough, though this sweepstakes has clearly been aimed at the student population, after meticulously reading through the contest rules, I have not come across anything that would bar non-student adults from entering the contest.
*note: Contestants must also register before the 20th of December, 2013.*
Prizes and Announcement
On the 26th of December, 2013, a total of nine prizes, all consisting of Amazon gift cards valued at $500 US, will be given out to nine lucky contestants. The winners will be chosen through a random selection process and will be notified by phone or email within 5 days of the announcement.
Contestants who fail collect their winnings within 72 hours of being notified of victory will forfeit the right to collect it altogether, and another victor will be chosen in their place.
