Turn fans can rejoice! The AMC original Revolutionary War drama has been renewed for a second season.
AMC announced its plans to air a second season after 2:00 PM on their Turn blog and several social media outlets. Fans will be able to view 10 new episodes come spring.
If waiting proves too difficult, fans can take comfort in AMC’s plans to pair episodes of Turn’s first season with new episodes of Hell on Wheels Saturday nights this summer.
Hell on Wheels season 4 is scheduled to premier Saturday August 2 at 9:00 PM on AMC. The network states that it wants to give new viewers a chance to experience what 2 million viewers discovered back in April- Turn is an intense, intelligent hour of entertainment.
Turn held its own with 2.2 million viewers against cable juggernauts like Game of Thrones- a show that drew over 7 million viewers during its season 4 finale. AMC network executives acknowledge the competition and recognize Turn is a show that must be nurtured.
The tense season one finale laid some fine fodder for a riveting second season. Now we will learn Simcoe’s fate- will he finally get what he deserves? We will be able to revel in the evolution of Mary, who unexpectedly took matters into her own hands, and Abe, who must come to terms with taking a life.
Viewers on message boards, including a Consumer Press thread, clamored for the show’s return. You can visit ‘Turn’ Finale Leaves a Burning Question, Will It Return for Season 2? to follow the discussion.
