Dogs and their trendy owners can now sport matching outfits thanks to a new venture from American Eagle Outfitters called American Beagle Outfitters.
American Eagle is previewing its first clothing line devoted to dogs and will launch later this spring. No specific date or month was provided pointing many to believe it’s an early April Fool’s Day joke.
Touted to “perfectly match their owner’s on-trend American Eagle wardrobe,” the American Beagle collection includes “slimming doggy jeggings, fur-friendly bikinis and statement accessories,” according to a statement released from the company.
Pictures on the website show dogs ranging in size from big to small with coordinating ensembles for their male or female owners with items such as babydoll dresses, jackets, hoodies, and button-up shirts.
The site says shoppers can sign up for American Beagle’s waitlist and receive 20% off their American Eagle purchase while waiting for the human-dog clothing line to debut later this season. $1.00 from each of the purchases will go toward the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). The company hopes to raise at least $100,000 for the ASPCA.
At least the campaign devoted to supporting the ASPCA doesn’t appear to be a joke.
