As if another Pitch Perfect weren’t enough, Anna Kendrick is continuing to cash in on the world’s obsession to hear her sing, as she will be lending her talents for the upcoming movie Trolls.
That’s right, those little dolls with the creepy eyes and colorful wavy hair that would stand straight up are getting their own movie in the form of an animated musical-comedy being produced by Dreamworks.
Erica Rivinoja, who recently wrote Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, has been hired to create a story and screenplay for the Trolls. Meanwhile, Mike Mitchell has signed on to direct; his recent works include Shrek Forever After and Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.
As for Kendrick, she is set to provide the voice for Poppy, the heroine of Trolls, who is described as a “relentlessly upbeat princess.”
Thus far, Kendrick is the only person that has been cast in Trolls. Regarding her casting, Mitchell said “Anna has proven herself to be a brilliant actress with an amazing singing voice. She’ll inject Poppy with the exact mix of spirit, sass and song that will no doubt give a whole new life to the iconic Troll dolls.”
The release date of Trolls is set for November 4, 2016.
