Archos Announces 250GB Honeycomb Tablets – Pricing, Availability

After announcing some unbelievably cheap Android tablets, Archos is now taking a different step and this is also a unique one. Now they are to release Android tablets which will have hard disks instead of SSD or any other memory option. The new Archos 80 G9 and Archos 101 G9 will feature 250GB of memory and both will come with Android Honeycomb 3.1.

These two tablets are not only extreme in disk space, they are also serious about processing speed, which is shown by the presence of 1.5 GHz dual core OMAP 4 processor. These processors are 50% faster than the available 1GHz Tegra 2 processors from NVidia. Added to that, these tablets offer 1080p video playback and an optional 3G dongle.

One question that remains after the announcement: what is the battery life with the hard disks? Hard disks are notorious for power consumption.

Both the tablets are cheaper in comparison with the other Honeycomb tablets, though the duo have way better specs. The 8 inch Archos G9 80 will cost $279 and 10.1 inch Archos G9 101 will cost $349. These will be available from the end of the coming September.
