Are You Still Ignoring The Electric Car Revolution?

This is an interesting time for the electric automobile industry.

Up until now there were not many choices as the Tesla Model S, and more recently the Model X, were the only (expensive) options that had sufficient range.

This is about to change, as the Chevrolet Bolt and Tesla Model 3 will debut in late 2016 and late 2017, respectively.

Although to date, there are more than 400,000 worldwide reservations for the Model 3, overall that is not a big number.  There are still many people out there who do not believe that the electric car revolution is real.

Maybe it is the lack of knowledge about the technology, or it might be the fact that people just do not like change.  The nuts and bolts of electric cars are different than gasoline powered vehicles, so there are differences in the electric car experience.

Actually there are some unique characteristics that make an electric car desirable.

Here are four reasons an electric car is superior to it’s gas cousin:

Never stopping at a gas station
No maintenance
Special power rates for electric car owners
A better overall driving experience

Range anxiety is the number one concern people seem to have.

The Model 3 and the Bolt will have a range of more than 200 miles on a full charge, so unless you drive more than that for your daily commute, this will not be an issue.  If you look around, there are charging stations at hospitals, shopping malls, casinos, and hotels.

Marriott Hotels have 238 charging stations, and Hilton Worldwide will have 100 by the end of 2016.  Tesla currently has 624 Supercharger stations with 3,708 Superchargers, with new sites that are constantly being constructed.  As this industry continues to grow, these numbers will grow exponentially.  There are apps for your mobile device that will find the nearest chargers, so you will always know where you can get that juice.

Are you one of those individuals who have ignored this new automotive technology?

What do you think about the future of electric transportation?
