According to Reuters, Barnes & Noble will be giving away a free Nook Simple Touch with every purchase of a Nook HD+ tablet starting on Sunday, March 24th. The deal will last through March 31st.
The Nook Simple Touch normally costs $79, while the Nook HD+ tablet costs $269 for the 16GB version, and $299 for the 32GB version.

The Nook HD+ has a full HD 1920 x 1280 display, a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The tablet weighs 18.2 ounces, and runs on an Android operating system. Depending on your specific settings, the battery can last for up to 10 hours of reading, or for 9 hours of video.
The Nook Simple Touch is a portable 6-inch e-reader with an advanced E-Ink display, which allows for reading even in bright sunlight. It weighs in at less than 7.5 ounces, and has battery life of up to two months on a single charge, based on 30 minutes of reading per day.
The Nook Simple Touch has always been a few steps behind products like Amazon’s Kindle and Apple’s iPad since it was launched in 2011, despite good reviews. Fans of e-books are largely choosing tablets over e-readers because tablets offer better features for readers.
Holiday sales for Barnes & Noble’s line of Nook products were not as successful as expected, causing a 26% loss in overall revenue for its Nook business.
In 2012, Barnes & Noble created Nook Media, combining Nook and its college bookstore business. Microsoft Corp and Pearson LLC have invested in Nook Media, but Barnes & Noble still owns 78%.
