For the next few weeks, Best Buy is offering a $150 student discount on all of their Mac notebook and desktop computers.
In addition, the Best Buy has knocked the price of all of the recently-updated MacBook Airs down $100.
The two promotions surrounding the MacBook Air can be combined, effectively taking $250 off the price and making the entry level 11-inch MacBook Air an unheard of $649, down from $899.
While the $100 discount is available to all customers, the $150 education discount is available to anyone with a valid .EDU email address, which are given to most college and university students and faculty.
A few of the Mac models being offered (with student promo code applied) include:
- 11″ MacBook Air (1.40GHz/4GB RAM/128GB SSD) for $649.99
- 13″ MacBook Air (1.40GHz/4GB RAM/128GB SSD) for $749.99
- 13″ MacBook Pro w/Retina Display (2.4GHz/4GB RAM/128GB SSD) for $1,149.99
- 21.5″ iMac (2.70GHz/8GB RAM/1TB ATA) for $1,048.99
If ordering from the Best Buy website, Best Buy will email promo codes to students who submit their .EDU email addresses. Those promo codes can then be retrieved and applied at checkout.
Best Buy is also offering student discounts on iPad Air and Retina iPad Mini for $50 off the retail price.
The MacBook Air was just updated in April with minor speed boosts.
It is unlikely that they will be updated again in the near future, making now a “safe time to buy”.
