Big Shake-Up At The View: Two Hosts Let Go

In a move that came as a shock to most, the producers of the ABC morning talk show decided to let everyone except Whoopi Goldberg go.

TMZ started reporting Thursday that Sherri Sheppard, Jenny McCarthy and long time executive producer Bill Geddie were let go from the show, in what seems to be simple spring cleaning.

Sherri later confirmed that the reports were true stating “It’s been seven wonderful years on The View and after careful consideration it is time for me to move on. I am extremely grateful to Barbara Walters and [executive producer] Bill Geddie for giving me the opportunity,” Sherri also confirmed on her twitter account.

Jenny McCarthy later stated on Twitter “If Sherri goes…I go too”

Jenny had only been on the show for a year, but clearly for ABC she didn’t hit the mark with the viewers.

An ABC wouldn’t say anything regarding the dismissal of the hosts, only that The View would be “going in new and exciting directions next year.”

The view is used to big shake ups given the exchange of hosts over the last five years, and with creator Barbra Walters retiring earlier this year, it isn’t a shock that ABC might decide to head in a different direction. The question remains what direction that could possibly be with only one host and no executive producer.
