British And German Tourists Evacuated From Tunisia By Thomas Cook

Thomas Cook, a highly popular holiday operator, is currently evacuating around 2000 Germans and 1800 British tourists from Tunisia. This due to political unrest.

Recently the whole country of Tunisia was hit hard by numerous violent protests against poverty and unemployment. Many protesters died after clashing with the police.

An official statement issued by Thomas Cook said that even if holidaymakers did not face problems so far, the company is thinking about their well being and need to bring them back with the use of personal aircraft fleet as a precaution method. Tourism in the country is highly affected at the moment.

The British Foreign Office made the first move and advised tour operators to halt all offers for Tunisia. It was stated that only essential travel to this country should happen.

TUI Travel, a rival of tourism operator Thomas Cook, claimed that they do not see why full evacuation is needed. On the other hand, they are also going to arrange for aircrafts for those people that want to come back home.
