On September 8, Capital One announced a partnership with last-minute booking app HotelTonight that gives Venture and VentureOne cardholders an extra 10% savings on their hotel bookings.
Cardholders can enter the code “Venture” to get the 10% discount in addition to HotelTonight’s other deals. For example, one of the app’s existing offers is GeoRates, which enables hotels to entice travelers through additional discounts. GeoRates, as the phrase implies, targets people based on location.
“I’m really excited about the partnership that gives our customers 10% off on already great rates that HotelTonight provides at thousands of hotels,” says Manan Mahadevia, managing vice president for U.S. Card at Capital One. “It’s so simple: Enter the promo code “Venture” when using the HotelTonight app and you’re ready to go.”
It pays to delay
HotelTonight lists thousands of hotels in hundreds of cities. It’s also considered a top travel trend for 2016 by Yahoo! Travel.
“When we look at HotelTonight versus other ways of booking at the last minute, then we’re comparing apples to apples in that case,” says CEO Sam Shank. “Our average savings is 17% versus what you would book using other channels. The reason for that is hotels are very motivated to book their rooms at the last minute.”
The hotel savings can actually rise to 30% or even 50% if you’re booking very late. Aside from the 10% discount, Venture cardholders will continue to earn unlimited double miles. VentureOne customers will still earn 1.25 miles on every purchase.
It doesn’t take long to lock up a room. According to Shank, you can reserve a room in as little as 10 seconds with a few taps on your smartphone.
