Chelsea Handler is set to host a late-night talk show on Netflix.
Handler, the only female late-night show host, plans to leave E! on August 26, 2014.
The comedienne has plans to lean her show towards the on-demand, Web generation and break away from traditional format.
In concordance with the Netflix presentation, Handler’s show will likely release either weekly or several episodes per week, according to Netflix spokesman Jonathan Friedland.
Chelsea Lately, Miss Handler’s nightly show, has been running for seven years and is produced by her own production company, Borderline Amazing Productions.
Handler has been nominated for the People’s Choice Award Favorite Late Night Talk Show Host and won the Teen Choice Award in 2009 for Choice Late-Night Talk Show.
Chelsea Lately has drawn an average of 960,000 viewers per episode, though the show received a viewership decrease between 2012 and 2013.
The new Netflix show has no name or other specifics as of yet, but an early 2016 release is expected.
