It appears that fans of teenage superhero movies are unlikely to get their wish of a third Kick-Ass movie, at least according to one of the co-stars of the first two Kick-Ass films, Chloë Grace Moretz, who says she would love to do another one, but doesn’t see it happening.
Moretz played Mindy Macready/Hit-Girl in Kick-Ass and Kick-Ass 2, sharing the spotlight with Aaron Taylor-Johnson. The first movie grossed close to $50 million, while the sequel grossed nearly $30 million. On the topic of a third flick in the saga, Moretz said “You know, I hope, I wish,” adding “That’s be fun. That’d be great.”
However, Moretz also said she doesn’t see it happening, blaming movie piracy. Moretz says Kick-Ass 2 was the second most pirated movie last year, which could account in the $20 million gap in revenue between the first and second movie, despite the sequel being well received by fans.
Moretz tells fans, “if you want a movie to be made into a second, a third, a fourth and a fifth, go buy a ticket. Don’t pirate it.” So unless Moretz is proven wrong, it doesn’t appear that Kick-Ass 3 is in the cards.
As for Moretz, she’s in the midst of a banner year in 2014, including her latest movie, If I Stay, which hits theaters in August.
