Consumers & Websites Prepare For Cyber Monday

A record-breaking Black Friday weekend may just lead to a similarly record-breaking Cyber Monday, according to the National Retail Foundation (NRF).

Based on a survey conducted by BIGresearch for the NRF’s Shop.org, they are predicting that 123 million people will shop online on Cyber Monday, up from last year’s 107 million online shoppers. And just as Black Friday shoppers strategize prior to hitting the stores, apparently Cyber Monday shoppers strategize as well. According to the survey, almost 47% of them plan to shop online early in the morning. 38% plan to shop in the late morning, and 28% plan to shop in the early evening on Monday.

Retail websites are making their plans as well. Taking a cue from the success brick-and-mortar stores found by opening early, many websites have begun their Cyber Monday sales early as well. Several of the most popular online destinations for Cyber Monday began their Cyber sales today, and a number of them plan to continue their ‘Cyber Monday’ sales throughout the week. Nearly 80% of online retailers said they would have special promotions on Cyber Monday, according to the survey.

The stage is set for a big day tomorrow.
