Debt Management – Now?

Debt management and Black Friday… and Cyber Monday… and Cyber Week… and Christmas, how can it possibly all come together?

Right now is a crazy time when it comes to debt. There are so many cyber sales online, and most require a credit card, what is one to do?

One solution to debt management is to get a prepaid credit card, according to David Christopher, who just got one himself.

Christopher purchased a Walmart MoneyCard at his local Walmart last week. The card is a prepaid debit card which can be used much like a regular credit card. Its rechargeable, and can be reused over and over again at any merchant that accepts VISA.

The Walmart MoneyCard is not the only prepaid Visa available. A quick search on the Internet will find several offered. Most of the cards can only be used up to the prepaid amount, limiting the user’s temptation to spend more than they had planned.

The National Retail Federation is reporting that  212 million shoppers visited stores and sites over Black Friday weekend (Thurs., Fri., Sat. and Sun.), up from 195 million last year. Total spending reached an estimated $45 billion. And that’s before Cyber Monday numbers have been calcuated and added in.

“Without a doubt there is more shopping excitement this year,” said Christopher, “I’m glad I have my limits already in place.”
