Dodge Brings Back The Spirit Of American Muscle With 3 Challenger Shakers

Dodge is bringing back the, “shaker”, hood air-scoop, for the 2015 model year. This decision was made by consumer demand, as the shaker models from last year sold out in 4 days.

The Dodge Challenger will continue this tradition with 3 new models. The Dodge Challenger R/T Shaker and R/T Plus Shaker can be ordered now. In March, the company will be taking orders for the Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker model.

Here is a quick overview of each of these high performance muscle cars.

Challenger R/T Shaker

The tamest of the three, the R/T Shaker will use the 5.7L Hemi V8 and produce 375 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque.

Helping to further distinguish this model from the regular challenger will be satin black strips that run from the hood to the tail, unique hood badges, black deck-lid spoiler with a backup camera, satin black fuel filler door that is labelled in old style “FUEL” letters, projector fog lights, 20 inch polished aluminum wheels, and black cloth performance seats with accent stitching.

An 8-speed paddle shifted automatic transmission is available as is fuel saver technology which shuts down 4 cylinders under light load conditions.

For the enthusiast who intends on driving their R/T Shaker on the track, the optional Super Track Pack is a must.

It features a 0.5 inch lowered suspension, Bilstein shocks, high performance brakes, a three mode ESC (electronic Stability control) system with a full off setting, and Goodyear Eagle F-1 tires.

The Challenger R/T Shaker Starts at $35,495.00 U.S..

Challenger R/T Plus Shaker

Building on the R/T model, the Plus adds some modern conveniences and technology. First off, it receives heated and ventilated Nappa leather seats with Shaker logos.

The power tilt/telescopic steering column and leather steering wheel, and unique door bolsters round out the trim improvements.

On the tech front the Plus receives: Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen display with AM/FM/SiriusXM Radio, Bluetooth, 3-D navigation-capable and Uconnect Access with 9-1-1 call/Assist Call , six premium speakers and 276-watt digital amplifier.

The serious enthusiast will enjoy the shortcut button to the new Dodge Performance Pages.

Part of the Uconnect 8.4-inch touch screen radio, this feature will provide visible performance information, such as programmable shift light indicator, reaction time, 0-60 times, G-force indicator and lap times in the 7-inch TFT customizable cluster display.

The Challenger R/T Plus Shaker starts at $38,495.00 U.S.

Challenger 392 Hemi Scat Pack Shaker

The 392 Scat Pack takes the performance to a different realm altogether.

The model uses a 6.4L Hemi V8 that conjures up 485 hp and 475 lb-ft of torque. That is enough to propel this large muscle car to 60 mph in under 5 seconds and complete ¼ mile runs in the mid 12’s.

The standard tranny is a Tremec 6-speed manual with the 8-speed auto as an option.

Proving you have the daddy of all shakers is the unique badging, active stainless dual exhaust, and a 220 amp alternator.

The 392 adds four piston Brembo brakes to the Super Track Pack suspension, for a more hard-core experience.

If all this still leaves you wanting a more special ride, then you can always check the box marked Scat Pack Appearance

Group.

The $1,100.00 option will gain you a Bumble Bee rear stripe in place of the hood to tail stripe of the lesser models.

Other changes include special embroidered logos on the seats, matte black 20 inch aluminum wheels and a bumble bee splash screen.

The Challenger 392 HEMI Scat Pack Shaker starts at $42,495.00 U.S.
