DWTS: Rough Week Ends With A Top Couple Going Home

The pressure is starting to get to everyone on Dancing with the Stars All-Stars.

Everyone except, it seems,  Apolo and Karina. The couple opened the show with a beautiful encore of their poignant Viennese Waltz.

After the number, the dancers got some good news. There will be no eliminations next week.

Because Tuesday is Election Night, they had planned on eliminating someone at the end of Monday’s performance show, but changed their mind due to the lack of voting last night during the hurricane.

Confusing? Yes, and the confusion continued when Tom announced that both Val and Kelly and Emmitt and Cheryl, the two lowest scoring couples from last night, were safe from elimination.

The night’s first special guest was Jason Miraz performing “I Won’t Give Up.”  Mark and Chelsie joined in with a sensual, bare-footed, contemporary, dance, full of amazing lifts and tumbles.

Bad news for fans followed, as Derek announced that he must leave the competition for at least a week due to a neck injury. Mark will have to fill in for him, partnering with Shawn because the couple made it to next week.

Peta and Gilles and Kirstie and Maks also made it through, meaning one of the top couples will be eliminated.

But before the final results were announced, it was time for the Macy’s Stars of Dance number.  The production featured a half dozen women dressed as modernized Marie Antoinettes.

Unfortunately, the choreography looked like something from a Katy Perry concert and don’t live up to the promises made. The routine lacked the visual impact we’ve seen in the past and didn’t bring anything new to the ballroom.

After the commercial break, the couples fielded another curve ball, the addition of fusion dances. Once again the couples had to pick a dance for another couple and it began with bickering between Kirstie and Maks. The two also ended up with the hardest fusion, the Quickstep mixed with Samba. It’s could be disastrous.

Another break, and then it was time for a tune from country pop sensation Taylor Swift. She was rocking the red with a bright bowtie over a fifties style polka dot blouse and high-waisted shorts. Too cute.

In the final round of results, Melissa and Tony made it through along with Apolo and Karina.

That meant Sabina and Louie were eliminated after one of their best dances ever.

Ironically, the elimination occurred on the same week as her original elimination back on season five. It was considered one of the most shocking eliminations then… and it was just as shocking this time around.

Between injuries and a top couple elimination, it was a rough week for the Dancing with the Stars all stars.
