Eagles Nest Tour & Lodging Discount, Berchtesgaden, Germany

TripAdvisor’s new listing for a home in Eagles Nest is offering a 20% discount on lodging in the months of March and May of 2011. The rental has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.

The rates for the months of March thru May are $450-650 nightly, $3,000-4,000 weekly, and $9,000-$10,000 monthly which include the 20% discount.

According to Let’s Go Europe, “Hitler’s “Eagle’s Nest” was designed and built for Adolf Hilter’s 50th Birthday by his personal secretary and Head of the Nazi Party Chancellery Martin Bormann.  The monument is called “Kehlsteinhaus” in German because of it was originally intended to be a “Teahouse” for the head of the Third Reich.  This mountain-top hideaway played a prominent role as the main unit objective in HBO’s critically acclaimed mini-series.”

Eagles Nest is accessible by local charter and tourist must purchase tickets prior to visiting the historical site. Tours depart daily from the local village every 30-40 minutes and conclude in a walk through tunnel which is 400 ft below the mountain surface. Each tour is conducted in English and according to the Historical Eagles Nest Tour Website, “Ours is the original and authoritative tour of the Eagle’s Nest, Obersalzberg and Bunker System.” May thru October is peak season for tourists interested in the destination.
