EPL Transfers: Jordan Henderson Signed On By Liverpool

Sunderland mid-fielder Jordan Henderson has signed on a deal with Liverpool Football Club and will join them from the next English Premier League season. The 20-year old mid-fielder, who plays for the English under-21 team will be contracted for a transfer contract of £16 million.

The transfer fee was agreed upon only a day ago and the player had undergone his medical tests just prior to that.

Henderson, 20, has played for Sunderland for two years now, after having begun as a 17-year old at Coventry City in 2008-2009. He had a five-year old contract with Sunderland in which he pumped in a couple of goals in the first year and followed it up with the award for the 2010-11 Young Player of the Year.

Henderson said that he was overjoyed at being roped in by Liverpool and flattered that the side had shown interest in him. What needs to be seen is whether Henderson gets his chances this season with the likes of Lucas, Spearing, Gerrard and Meireles already in their line-up.

Kenny Dalglish may not end his summer spending here and could be looking at getting a few more on board. Liverpool did not have a great previous season and would look to resurrect their fortunes with some exciting talent next season.
