Erica Garner’s “This Ends Today” Available Online Now

Eric Garner’s daughter, Erica, published a song titled “This Ends Today” on the free music site Soundcloud.com.

According to Billboard’s website, the family, relative Steven Flagg, and Erica Garner released the song.

Eric Garner, 43, was killed July 17, 2014, after being held in a police chokehold on Staten Island in New York. He was being arrested for illegally selling cigarettes.

It was one of a series of deaths of unarmed African-American men, which have resulted in protests throughout the country. The police officer who performed the chokehold, which was against policy, was not indicted.

“This Ends Today” includes audio of Garner saying, repeatedly, “I can’t breathe.”

The song is by turns angry and lament, political commentary and a call to action. The lyrics of the chorus are “Who is the man who has the strength to choose when the rest refuse? This ends today.”

The song includes explicit language.
