F.E.A.R. Online’s Beta Will Soon Be Free for All To Join

You will be able to join F.E.A.R. Online’s open beta on October 8th,” says the official Facebook page of F.E.A.R. Online.

“No keys needed, simply an Aeria Games account.

The post goes on to say, however, that the beta client will not be available on Steam just yet, and that prospective players will need to download the client directly from the F.E.A.R. Online page on AeriaGames.com.

Those that prefer to play the game on Steam can do so on the game’s official launch date – October 17.

F.E.A.R. Online is the latest installment of the F.E.A.R. franchise; putting players in the shoes of an operative for First Encounter Assault Recon (F.E.A.R.).

F.E.A.R. is sent in to investigate reports of unsettling experiments being conducted by Armacham Technology Corporation (ATC) – experiments that threaten to unleash hellish forces beyond anyone’s control.

F.E.A.R. Online offers multiple player-versus-environment and player-versus-player game modes, including:

Scenario – a PvE mode which pits teams of players in a story-driven situation where they must work together to accomplish their mission.

Escape – a PvE mode where players battle for survival against waves of increasingly difficult opponents while desperately escaping an ever-creeping wall of flame.

Team Deathmatch – a PvP classic with a twist, where players transform into frightfully powerful beasts once their bloodlust has been sufficiently built up.

Team Demolition – another PvP classic which tasks one team with destroying an objective and the other team with defending said objective.

Knife Mode – a bloody PvP mode where you eschew guns for knives to hone your melee skills against other players.

Armored Front – a PvP mode tasking players to capture and hold strategic mode, with each having a powerful mech to help them get the job done.

Soul King – a frenetic PvP mode where players scramble to possess an NPC that will rip apart their opponents with superior armor and firepower.

Excited for the latest installment of F.E.A.R.? Don’t like the direction they’re taking the franchise?
