Fooey! Spray | A Vet Tech’s Review

Synergy Labs claims that its Fooey! spray is so bitter that it can make anything distasteful to an animal.

My dog has a bad habit of licking her paws — partially due to her allergies, partially due to the fact that they’re there and she can. Since Fooey! is cheaper than Bitter Apple at my local store (I’m a bargain hunter), I decided to give Fooey! a whirl.

My dog has been less-than-thrilled with my decision.

One night while my pup was ever-so-loudly licking her front paws (despite being told to stop repeatedly), I decided enough was enough and went to the pantry to grab the Fooey! spray.

I sprayed both of her front paws twice.

She sniffed at her paws, licked one paw one time, decided eww, this is gross!, and put her head down between her paws to sleep.

It worked!

As if that wasn’t easy enough, after a few more times getting her paws sprayed (it doesn’t last more than 24 hours), my dog has learned what the bottle looks like, so if we say “Don’t make me get the spray!” or set the spray down beside her, she stops licking/chewing her paws immediately.

The only downside I’ve found with Fooey! is that the nozzle on our bottle leaks when we spray it, so Fooey! gets on our hands. It’s definitely bitter, so wash your hands after using the bottle!

So, the verdict on Fooey! spray? Two paws up!

Fooey! can be used to deter dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, ferrets, and horses from chewing/destroying furniture, walls, clothing, shoes, wires, fencing, stables, and plants. Plus, it’s safe to use topically so they stop chewing themselves.
