The woman who became known on the internet as ‘The Fountain Lady’, after a video of her falling into a fountain at a mall went viral, is considering suing the mall.
Cathy Cruz Marrero was texting as she walked through the mall, ran into a wall surrounding the fountain, and then fell in. It was not made clear what a lawsuit would be based on. During an interview on Good Morning America, she said there was nothing she could grab onto to keep her balance.
She also said that mall security did not respond, and her lawyer complained about the release of the mall security videos for viewing by the public. He said the incident was still being investigated.
The video of the fall includes the voices of workers monitoring the surveillance cameras and laughing, with calls to ‘play it back’. More laughing is heard when a different view of the incident was shown on the monitor.
The video has garnered harsh criticism of ‘The Fountain Lady’ Marrero on YouTube.
