Jared Loughner has been identified as a suspect in the shooting of Gabrielle Giffords, the youngest woman ever elected to Congress. The shooting took place at a Republican meeting in Tuscon, Arizona. Giffords is listed in critical condition and at least six others are confirmed dead.

Photos on Loughner’s Myspace account proudly display an automatic handgun on top of a book entitled United States History. Loughner also had a Youtube account on which he posted videos of his opinions and some messages that state that he will “soon be adopting a new consciousness.” Another video shows a man in a mask setting a United States flag on fire.

In one video, Loughner provided a stance on his theories of government mind control: “I can’t trust the current government because of fabrications,” he said. “The government is implying mind control and brainwash on the people by controlling grammar.”

Loughner lives with his mother in Tuscon.

Loughner was strongly opinionated about U.S. residents who could not speak proper English, although he never specifically mentioned the word immigration in his videos.

On one Youtube video, Loughner stated that his “favorite interest was reading, and (he) studied grammar.”
