Finally some news on the release date for the Galaxy S2 in the US!

The head of Samsung’s mobile business and digital imaging division, Shin Jong-Kyun said on Wednesday: “We expect to release the Galaxy S2 in the U.S. market sometime in August”.

The Galaxy S2 Smartphone, which is an Android based phone, has been out in South Korea, the global headquarters location for Samsung, since April. The Korean release was followed by Europe and Southern Asia releases the following couple of months.

The first Galaxy Smartphone was a big success, selling more then 10 million of the Smartphones worldwide. That being said, the new Galaxy S2 is on the same path. It has already sold 3 million Smartphones in the countries where it has already been released and the company projects sales of 60 million by the end of the year.

The phone is being released while Samsung is in a patent dispute with Apple. Apple claims that the Samsung Galaxy tab as well as the first Samsung Galaxy phone are a direct rip-off of the iPad and iPhone from Apple. Tim Cook, the Apple COO said on this matter: “We love competition, but we want people to invent their own stuff, and we are going to make sure we defend our intellectual property”.

The Samsung Galaxy S2, which is the most technologically advanced Smartphone from Samsung, is expected to be available from the following carriers: AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and T-Mobile. Released in the UK in May, it has been outselling the iPhone 4.
