In 2008 GM began offering military personnel discounts towards the purchase of new vehicles.
At first the program was only available to active duty, reserve, retirees, veterans and spouses within a year of their discharge date.
This program expanded last year to acknowledge all past military personnel regardless of how long ago they left their position.
As of today, November 4, 2015 and until January 4, 2016, all of the 23 million veteran U.S. military personnel and their spouses are eligible for the savings.
So to be clear all Veterans, Active Duty members, Reserves, National Guard members and Retirees, including their spouses, of the U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy, Marines and Coast Guard can take advantage of this program.
Why has GM picked this month to restart the program?
“As current and former members of our armed forces celebrate Veterans Day and the holidays with their families, we want to show our appreciation for their service,” said Steve Hill, GM vice president of U.S. sales and service. “Working with key partners like Building for America’s Bravest, Hiring Our Heroes, and the Achilles Freedom Team, we hope to do even more to continue GM’s 100-year legacy of commitment to the brave men and women of the U.S. military.”
The military discount can also be applied with other current promotions, like the Consumer purchase cash discount.

information redacted except the date of the statement, Participant’s name (payee) and DFAS (payer).
2) A copy of the Participant’s driver’s license with the license number redacted.
Retirees:
1) A current (within the last 30 days) copy of the Participant’s Retiree Account Statement or Leave and Earnings
Statement (LES) with all information redacted except the date of the statement, Participant’s name (payee) and
DFAS (payer).
2) A copy of the Participant’s driver’s license with the license number redacted.
Veterans:
1) Discharge Papers (e.g., DD-214, WD AGO 53, WD AGO 55, WD AGO 53-55, NAVPERS 553, NAVMC 78PD or NAVCG 553).
2) A copy of the Participant’s driver’s license with the license number redacted.
