GM Grants A Sneak Peek At The 2016 Terrain

GM has just introduced the 2016 Terrain and Terrain Denali before they make their debut at the New York International Autoshow.

Originally released as a 2010 model, the GMC Terrain quickly gained popularity for its styling, comfort and utility.

The 2016 Terrain will build on these qualities. It seats five, offers the option of AWD and a Denali model for a bit more luxury.

The 894 litres (31.6 cu ft) of cargo space behind the rear seat can be expanded to 1,809 litres (63.9 cu ft) with the rear seats folded, making for a very useful space.

The available programmable power liftgate has a memory function and will stop at a reachable height for the vertically impaired and just low enough to avoid garage roofs if need be.

The optional safety packages give access to several electronic driving aids. These include: Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety features, Terrain offers Rear Park Assist, Forward Collision Alert and Lane Departure Warning.

Inside you will find the latest Onstar with 4G LTE, and a built in Wi-Fi hotspot that is free for a 3-month/3GB trial period.

The centre stack has been reorganized and features a new storage shelf and fresh information graphics.

One feature I find fantastic is the inclusion of real dials for the radio and climate controls, which will allow you to adjust your music and climate without looking away from the road.

The 2016 Terrain has 2 engines to choose from.

The 2.4L Ecotec 4 cylinder uses direct-injection and is estimated to return 32 mph on the highway (7.3 L/100 km) in FWD models.

The larger engine is a 3.6L V6 that offers 301 hp and 272 lb-ft of torque. That is enough power to pull a trailer loaded to a weight of 3,500 lbs or 1,588 kilograms.

For the consumer who longs for a little more pampering the 2016 Terrain Denali may be for you.

The Denali has a unique exterior and interior, exclusive wheels and a cushier suspension system to provide a smoother ride with better handling.

The 2016 Terrain and Terrain Denali go on sale this Fall, and pricing will be available soon.

One final thought; GM claims, “Terrain’s exterior styling is the No. 1 reason for purchase among female buyers”.

What do you think, is the Terrain that good looking?
