Ten shades of Clairol Natural Instincts are being recalled by manufacturer Procter & Gamble (P&G). According to an announcement from the company, the hair coloring kits contain a mismatched ColorFresh Revitalizer sachet, and its use may “create an unwanted color result.”
The shades being recalled are: number 16, Light Auburn (Spiced Tea); number 35, Brown Black (Ebony Mocha); number 03G, Light Golden Blonde (Honey Creme); number 7.5, Dark Blonde (Maple Creme); number 21G, Medium Golden Brown (Caramel Creme); number 23R, Medium Auburn (Raspberry Creme); number 30R, Dark Auburn (Cherry Creme); number 31, Darkest Brown (Coffee Creme); number 9, Natural Light Blonde (Blonde Vibrance); and number 10, Extra Light Blonde (Sun-Kissed Blonde).
The shade number and color name are located toward the upper left corner of the front of the box. According to P&G, all other shades of Clairol Natural Instincts have the correct ColorFresh Revitalizer sachet.
The hair coloring being recalled has already been pulled off of store shelves, according to P&G’s announcement. Shoppers who purchased the coloring are being asked to contact Clairol for a refund or replacement coupon. Clairol can be contacted Monday through Friday, from 9am to 6pm Eastern Time, at 1-866-493-0512. The company has a different number, 1-800-252-4765, for consumers who have already used the coloring and need assistance. That help line is open Monday through Friday, from 9am to 6pm Eastern Time, and 9am to 4pm on Saturdays.
P&G pointed out in their announcement that the main colorant is unaffected by the issue. The ColorFresh Revitalizer sachet, which is intended to ‘boost’ the color two weeks after the main coloring, is what is mismatched.
