Harry Potter fans are expecting a real feast when a new Harry Potter website  launches later this year.  Users will be able to access e-versions of previous Harry Potter books, as well as a host of other digital content.

The offline books, because of their massive popularity, have added a nice healthy chunk to the bottom line of many book sellers both offline and online. But up till now, JK Rowling, the author of the popular Harry Potter series, has resisted turning them into eBooks. But now there’s been change a change of heart, and the new website, pottermore.com, will have exclusive rights to sell the e-version of these very lucrative books. The paperback editions are still popular 4 years after the last book.

Pottermore will not just be an eBook store however. It is designed to be a Harry Potter experience, where users get an introduction to the now very famous Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They can “travel” to Hogwarts after “buying” a wand of their choice and, upon arriving, be sorted into one of 4 houses by the popular talking sorting hat. They also get to participate in some of the Harry Potter experiences with other well known characters.

On July 31, Harry Potter’s birthday, the beta version of this site shall launch and the eBooks are expected to be available in October. For users who want to get notifications on how they can start participating early, registration is open on the Pottermore site.
