“How The Grinch Stole Christmas” became a hot topic on Twitter.com, as the Ron Howard/Jim Carrey version played out on ABC’s Family Channel this evening.
“Grinch” and “Stole Christmas” made it onto the short list of Twitter Trends, a side widget on Twitter that tracks and displays the most talked about topics on Twitter.
The movie, released in 2000, is a big budget live-action film based on the original 1957 book by Dr. Suess, which was also put into cartoon form in 1996.
It has also been made into a musical, which is touring the U.S. right now (current location: Houston, TX).
Dr. Suess, whose real name was Theodor Seuss Geisel, died in 1991, but his stories have lived on. Even with his enormous imagination, would he have ever considered a time when his stories like “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” would be shown in a non-animated form on TV while being commented on by a large group of people all interconnected through an internet service called ‘Twitter’?
