Friday, Apple launched their new iPhone promotion that increases the trade-in value to $99 for iPhone 4 and $199 for iPhone 4S.

This means some customers will be able to upgrade to the new iPhone 5 or iPhone 5C at little cost or even free.

Some new promotional materials at the Apple Stores now read

“It’s a beautiful time for an upgrade. You may be eligible for upgrade pricing on a new iPhone. And if you bring in your old iPhone to be recycled, you could get credit toward a new one. Ask us for details.”

Emails, in this regard, were also sent out to current eligible customers.

Although this promotion is aimed toward getting customers to upgrade their devices, it also appears to be part of Apple’s efforts to boost in-store iPhone sales.

In the internal document that is addressed to Apple Store employees, Apple noted that, “With you, they also understand why we’re the best place to buy an iPhone.”

Apple Stores have had issues with declining sales recently as 80% of customers buy though other sources, but 50% of all repairs and replacements remain in house. Apple would like to see those numbers align more.

Will you be taking advantage of this promotion?
