HP TouchPad $100… Maybe $150… Off This Weekend!

Hewlett-Packard is having a sale this weekend on the HP Touchpad. Both the 16GB and 32GB versions of the TouchPad are on sale with $100 off.  The offer begins on August 5th and ends on August 7th. HP has updated their web site with the offer, but the units are not available until Friday. The 16GB TouchPad goes for $499.99 normally and is on sale for $399.99.  The 32GB version goes for $599.99 normally and is on sale for $499.99.

But Staples is rumored to be doing the deal $50 better. They currently offer a $50 instant rebate on the HP TouchPad. According to Slickdeals and other sites, Staples will echo HP’s $100 discount… plus also include the $50 instant rebate, this weekend. Meaning a savings of $150 on each model. The 16Gb TouchPad would be $349.99, the 32 Gb TouchPad $449.44. We contacted Staples about combining the discounts – but they said they could not confirm or deny the deal at this time.

The HP TouchPad is a 9.7-inch tablet powered by the WebOS operating system. It is 1.65 pounds, which is heavier than its competitors the iPad2, Galaxy Tab 10.1, and Motorola Xoom.  It has a 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB RAM, 1024 x 768 touch-screen display, built-in speakers, a 9-hour battery, comes with WiFi and Bluetooth communications enabling both web surfing at home and wireless printing.  It also comes with an integrated email application for hooking up to all the popular email platforms like GMail, Yahoo, Hotmail, MobileMe, Exchange and SMTP/POP3 providers. It has multiple other applications and a built-in front-facing camera for video chatting that works with the already installed Skype.
