H&R Block & TurboTax – The Cheapest, Fastest, Ways To Get Them

H&R Block (formerly TaxCut) and TurboTax are on sale and available online.

Let’s start with H&R Block.

H&R Block offers four versions of their tax software. There’s a free version, which they recommend for first-time filers. Then Basic, Deluxe, and Premium versions.

The Basic, Deluxe, and Premium versions are priced at $34.99,$49.99,and $74.99 on their site. Taxes can be done right on their site, no download required.

That’s full retail price though. we found numerous online retailers offering discounts of more than 50% off digital downloads of H&R Block tax software.

Walmart.com and Amazon.com appear to offer the lowest prices online. They both have the basic version on sale for $14.15. Frys.com the basic for $14.99. Target.com and BestBuy.com come in with a higher price, $19.99.

For the Deluxe version, Amazon.com comes out way ahead at $15.75. Yep, just $1.60 more than the basic. The best price at Walmart.com is currently $23.16. BestBuy.com has it at $34.99, and Target.com offers it at $45.99.

And for the Premium version of H&R Block tax software, Amazon has it priced at $29.25, Walmart.com has it at $43.52, BestBuy.com has it at $64.99. Target.com offers it at full retail, $74.90.

Now looking at TurboTax.

TurboTax comes in four different flavors. Free, Deluxe, Premier,and Home & Business. Like H&R Block, taxes can be done on their site.

Prices for the paid versions straight from their website are $49.99, $74.99, and $99.99.

Just as with H&R Block, major online retailers offer TurboTax for less. But the savings here are not quite as big.

Walmart.com has the Deluxe version of TurboTax on sale for $23.16. BestBuy.com offers that at $29.99. On Amazon.com it’s $39.00.

Prices for the Premier version start at $64.99 at BestBuy.com. Walmart.com and Amazon.com have it at $69.

The Home & Business version of TurboTax is $79 at Walmart.com and Amazon.com, $99 at BestBuy.com and Target.com.

For the most part, retailers offering both of these tax programs have them available through downloads. But they also sell the programs on CD, and sometimes it’s not real clear which they are selling.
