Sucker Punch games is set to release inFAMOUS 2 for the PS3 in a few weeks, and the pre-release build up could provide a welcome change from the other attention in recent weeks. The April 21st hack of the PlayStation Network has created not only an inconvenience for users, but concerns over identity theft.
The original inFAMOUS was widely popular, and Sucker Punch hopes its sequel will bring in even more fans. To spur sales, they are working with select retailers to offer bonus powers via inFAMOUS 2 pre-orders. Some gamers will opt for the Hero Edition, which extends several additional powers with Cole’s messenger bag.
Amazon, GameStop and Wal-Mart all have their own special power. Below are special trailers for inFAMOUS 2, specialized to the power available from each retailer:
Amazon: 24K Gold Amp Weapon. As of yet, neither Sucker Punch nor Sony have revealed if the gold amp will have more power or just more flash. This could hinder their pre-sale efforts, as gamers may opt for for a proven power.
GameStop: Lightning Hook. Advanced inFAMOUS users claim this will be a popular option, as it grabs opponents and pulls them to the user.
Wal-Mart: Electrocution Grenades. To ensure enemies aren’t able to escape the blast radius, these grenades electrocute the target, keeping them in the kill zone.
All of these powers are available in the Hero Edition, but gamers that don’t see a need to shell out the extra money can still get one of the bonuses via the pre-order specials. The PS3 is the exclusive gaming system for inFAMOUS 2, which is set to be released on June 7th.
