Instagram For Android Coming Soon

According to reports, an Android version of the photo sharing app ‘Instagram’ is currently being beta tested and will be available soon.

Instagram was launched in October of 2010 and became an instant hit.

By January, 2011, the app already had over 1 million users and was named a runner up for the TechCrunch Crunchies “Best Mobile App” award.

In December of 2011, it was picked as Apple’s “App of the Year.”

Instagram founder Kevin Systrom told Wired.com that the app has now been downloaded more than 27 million times on the Apple App Store. Wired.com quoted Systrom as saying that his company has been “working hard on making this (Instagram) one of the best Android apps you’ll ever see.”

Instagram is a free photo sharing app which features digital filters that can be applied to photos taken by the device. The photo can then be shared through various social networking sites, or through Instagram’s own social network platform.

On iTunes, the app currently has a rating of five out of five stars, with over 387,000 user ratings.

No date was provided for the launch of the Android version, but when we get one, we will let you know here at CP.
