iPad Mini vs iPad 2 vs Next Gen iPad – Specs vs Price

With the iPad Mini and the next generation iPad on its way, there’s a burning question for all Apple fans… which one should they go for!

PRICING :

The iPad Mini pricing:

Wi-Fi versions: 16GB – $329; 32GB – $429; 64GB – $529.

The Wi-Fi + Cellular: 16GB – $459;  32GB – $559;  64GB – $659.

The Next Gen iPad pricing:

WiFi version, 16GB – $499; 32GB – $599; 64GB – $699.

Wi-Fi + Cellular: 16GB – $629; 32GB – $729; 64GB – $829.

The iPad 2 pricing:

WiFi version: $399 (16GB).

WiFi + 3G for $529 (16GB).

DISPLAY : 

The iPad Mini has 7.9-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit Multi-Touch display with IPS technology which provides the same resolution of 1024-by-768 as the iPad 2. The iPad Mini does not have the exclusive Retina Display.

The Next Generation iPad does have the Retina Display, with a 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit screen and a resolution of 2048-by-1536.

CHIP : 

The iPad Mini and the iPad 2 have the same Dual Core A5 chip powering the devices.

The Next Gen iPad has the Dual-core A6X with quad-core graphics which is a faster processor and will provide for better performance and graphics.

CAMERA : 

The iPad 2 had the front facing VGA camera which has been upgraded to to an HD camera for both the iPad Mini and the Next Gen iPad. The FaceTime HD camera is 1.2 mega pixels and is capable of recording in 720p HD.

Both the iPad Mini and the Next Gen iPad have the same iSight camera in the back, which is 5 mega pixels and is capable of full Hd recordings.

CONNECTIVITY : 

The iPad Mini and the Next Gen iPad both support LTE and have Wi-Fi (802.11a/b/g/n; 802.11n on 2.4GHz and 5GHz) with bluetooth 4.0 technology.

BATTERY : 

The iPad Mini and the Next Gen iPad have stated that they have a battery life of up to 10 hours on a single charge.

With nearly equal specs and features, the new iPad Mini looks like an interesting deal for first time iPad shoppers, while the Next Gen iPad may appeal to existing users of the iPad looking for an upgrade.
