Ivanka Trump-Brand Scarves Recalled Due To Potential Burn Risk To Consumers

Ivanka Trump’s scarves bring new meaning to the term “smoking hot.”

On April 6, 2016, approximately 20,000 of the Ivanka Trump scarves were recalled by the Global Brands Group (GBG) Accessories Brand. The recall involved scarves sold between October 2014 and January 2016. The recall was issued due to the scarves inability to meet the federal flammability standards for clothing textiles posing a burn risk.

Two specific styles of the Ivanka Trump scarves were effected:

• Beach Wave: In blue, coral and yellow
Brushstroke Oblong: in blue, red neutral and green

The scarves are 100 percent rayon and were manufactured in China and retailed between $12 and $68.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has warned consumers to stop wearing the scarves immediately and to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Below is a list of nationwide retailers that carried the recalled scarves:

Century 21
Lord & Taylor
Marshalls
TJ Maxx
Stein Mart

Consumers who purchased the scarves online from either Amazon or Loehmanns should be contacted directly by the online retailers with details on how to return the merchandise for a full refund.

A spokesperson representing the Ivanka Trump brand issued the following statement concerning this incident:

“We’re disappointed to learn of the need for Global Brands Group, our license partner, to recall two styles of Ivanka Trump scarves, but we are relieved that immediate action is being taken,”

She went on to assure consumers that the Trump brand was committed to fixing this issue:

“We’re committed to providing our audience of millennial working women with accessibly priced, quality products that suit their needs and look great. We’re seeing to it that this issue is fixed immediately.”

There have been no reported incidents or injures associated with these scarves.
