Jared Leto Circling Joker Role

Acclaimed Actor Jared Leto is reportedly in talks to play comic book super villain ‘The Joker’ in David Ayer’s 2016 Suicide Squad film.

Reports coming from sources close to Warner Brothers claim that the actor/ musician is interested in playing the iconic clown prince of crime as a follow up to his role in Dallas Buyers Club.

The same reports state that this was the role previously considered for Ryan Gosling.

This suggests a large among of confidence in Leto on behalf of Warner Brothers. Should the actor land the role of Batman’s arch nemesis for Suicide Squad’s 2016 release date, it will have been eight years since Heath Ledger’s critically acclaimed performance in 2008’s The Dark Knight.

The inclusion of the Joker in the film would be a significant departure from the source material, and how the character would fit into a Suicide Squad adventure is still speculation.

However, interest in the Joker indicates confirmation of a portrayal of fan favorite villainess, and staple of recent Suicide Squad books, Harley Quinn, rumored to be played by Margot Robbie (The Wolf of Wall Street).

What do you think of Leto possibly playing The Joker in a Suicide Squad story?
