Jared Padalecki, star of the hit CW television series Supernatural, cancelled his convention appearances for later this month.
Supernatural is known for its conventions as well as its enthusiastic fanbase. The cast attends many conventions every year across America and extending into other countries.
Padalecki announced his upcoming absences via Twitter:
“I am in desperate and urgent need of my family. I am so sorry to tell you this but I must head home. I need all of the love I can get right now. Please please give me a few seconds of your time and write me. #AlwaysKeepFighting“
#AlwaysKeepFighting is part of Padalecki’s campaign to fight against depression.
Padalecki’s Supernatural co-star, Jensen Ackles, addressed the absence in the convention’s opening moments:
“[Jared] needed to go home and get some rest and be with his family. And he knows that this family is going to miss him. And I told him, ‘Please take care of yourself,” and we didn’t want him to exhaust himself anymore. As you know, he’s a big guy with a big heart, and he gives a lot of it out.”
