The royal wedding broke all kinds of internet streaming records. It received more views than the World Cup and more views than the death of Michael Jackson. It did more than just increase streaming views, though. It created a surge of internet shoppers looking for dresses similar in style to Lady Catherine’s – Kate’s – wedding dress.

According to an article posted by British online newspaper Mail Online, the internet retailer Shop Style stated that searches for the Alexander McQueen name rose to the top 40 almost immediately after the company was named as the creator of the wedding dress. Many other internet retailers saw traffic nearly double as a result of the revelation as women apparently took to the simple but elegant white and lace bodice.

The best-kept secret in fashion was revealed as Kate stepped out of her car at Westminster Abbey to head toward the wedding the entire world has been waiting for. Cameras were on hand to catch the style and design of her wedding dress, which she explicitly insisted on keeping under wraps. Upon the revelation, Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen, the designer of the royal wedding dress, became an instant success worldwide.
